As the leading communications services provider in South Africa, Telkom’s network is the backbone that connects most South African’s daily.

Telkom invites suitably qualified learners to participate in a Telecommunications Network Operations Learnership programme, which upon successful completion, will lead to the awarding of a Further Education and Training Certificate: Telecommunication Networks Operation, SAQA ID 59057 (NQF Level 4). The learnership programme is offered in various provinces for a period of 12 months and learners will be paid a monthly allowance of R4000 during that period. There are 21 opportunities up for grabs in Athlone, Proteaville, Worcester, Ceres, Caledon, Bergvliet.

The successful candidates will be responsible for, but not be limited to: Complying with the requirements of the learnership, inclusive of its terms and conditions as guided by the Sectoral Determination on Learnership.


  • To repair and maintain Telkom’s cable network, across the entire range, in order to provide a continuous service to all our customers.
  • To do assurance and fulfilment on the MDF and IDF environment at manned and unmanned sites, as well as associated MDF equipment on site.


  • Preferable Matric National Certificate (Vocational) Electrical Infrastructure
  • Construction or Matric with Maths (not Math Literacy) & Science.
