The Thembelihle Municipality, based in Hopetown, is inviting suitably qualified South African youth to apply for two (2) Electrical Intern positions. These posts are offered on a 10-month fixed-term contract, providing valuable hands-on experience in the municipal electrical field.

Internship Details
- Directorate: Technical Services
- Post: Electrical Interns (x2)
- Contract: 10 months fixed-term
- Remuneration: R10 000.00 per month + leave benefits
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification
- Valid driver’s licence
- Good communication skills
Key Performance Areas
As an Electrical Intern, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting with planning, scheduling, and coordinating EEDSM (Energy Efficiency Demand Side Management) project activities
- Collecting and analysing energy consumption and efficiency data
- Supporting the development of energy-efficient solutions
- Assisting with technical specifications for energy-efficient equipment
- Preparing reports on findings and recommendations
- Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and municipal staff
- Performing electrical operations such as:
- Cable laying, conductor preparation, and pole installations
- Terminating cables and wires, soldering, and fitting lugs
- Using handheld equipment (e.g., jackhammers, power tools) for installations
- Assisting in the erection and installation of poles, aerial transformers, and switchgear
