The Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) invites ambitious and unemployed South African youth to apply for the GIBS Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme 2026.

About the GIBS YES Programme

Youth unemployment remains a critical challenge in South Africa, with a reported 45.5% unemployment rate among young people aged 15–34, compared to the national average of 32.9% (Q1 2024). The GIBS YES Programme aims to address this challenge by empowering young graduates through meaningful work experience, mentorship, and exposure to professional networks.

Participants will join GIBS on a fixed-term 12-month contract (January 2026 – January 2027), gaining valuable insights into workplace dynamics and building a strong foundation for future career success.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the GIBS YES Programme 2026, applicants must:

  • Be unemployed at the time of application.
  • Be aged 18 to 35 years (not turning 35 before 31 December 2025).
  • Be a South African citizen by birth or naturalisation.
  • Reside in Gauteng Province.
  • Not have participated in a YES Programme previously.
  • Hold at least a university degree or equivalent qualification (NQF 7) – preference given to graduates with quantitative skills.
  • Have good English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Be willing to work 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends (with two consecutive days off).
  • Be available to start in January 2026.

  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week (including some evening shifts)
  • Location: GIBS Campus, Gauteng
