Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12
- Appropriate qualification at NQF Level 6 in Animal Health or equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA
- Current registration with the South African Veterinary Council as an Animal Health Technician
- Valid driver’s licence (except for persons with disabilities)
Knowledge and Skills
Candidates should possess:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Negotiation skills
- Time management skills
- Computer literacy
- Report writing skills
- Knowledge of:
- Animal Diseases Act, 1984 (Act 35 of 1984)
- Animal Identification Act, 2002 (Act 6 of 2002)
- Meat Safety Act, 2000 (Act 40 of 2000)
- Disease control programmes and eradication schemes
- PFMA
Duties
Successful candidates will:
- Render Animal Health Regulatory Support Services
- Implement disease control measures
- Support State Veterinarians
- Assist with extension services on animal health
- Collect samples and assist with law enforcement
- Populate databases
- Compile monthly and quarterly reports
