Position: HR Intern

Purpose of the Role
To provide workplace exposure, structured learning, and hands-on experience in Human Resources while supporting SANAC’s HR operations and building essential skills for future employability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support recruitment and selection processes
- Assist with onboarding and induction
- Maintain and update employee records
- Support training and development coordination
- Assist with payroll-related admin
- Provide support with performance management processes
- Assist in employee relations documentation and coordination
- Assist with wellness events and wellbeing activities
- Prepare HR reports and maintain filing systems
- Provide general HR administrative support
Qualifications and Requirements
- National Diploma/Degree in HR Management, Industrial Psychology, Public Administration (HR-focused), or related field

Database Developer Intern
Position: Database Developer Intern
Contract: Internship Programme
Duration: 12 Months
Stipend: R6 000 per month

Purpose of the Role
To provide structured experience in database development and data management while strengthening SANAC’s data integrity, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support database design, development, and optimisation
- Assist with data cleaning, validation, and consolidation
- Support system documentation and version control
- Provide basic technical user support
- Assist with building dashboards and reports (Excel, Power BI, etc.)
- Support data analysis processes
- Troubleshoot basic database issues
- Collaborate with programme teams to enhance data workflows
Qualifications and Requirements
- National Diploma/Degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- South African citizen aged 18–35
- Unemployed graduate
- Understanding of databases (SQL, MS Access, etc.)
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Experience with Excel; exposure to BI tools is an advantage
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Eagerness to learn and work in a data-driven environment

Research and Innovation Internship

Exposure & Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Research, Innovation and Road Safety Education Manager, the intern will gain exposure to:
Project Management and Research Administration
- Coordinate research workshops to establish and review research needs
- Facilitate external peer reviews of research proposals
- Coordinate quarterly technical meetings and track research progress
- Perform administrative oversight and contract management
- Manage research budgets and approve milestone-based payments
- Upload data to the ITIS Research Module
- Coordinate quarterly research impact assessment reports
- Facilitate presentation of research results at industry seminars
- Ensure mentorship for Master’s and PhD students
- Monitor performance of research teams
- Update panel researchers every 3 years
- Prepare documentation and compile reports for the Research and Innovation Focus Group
Stakeholder Engagement and Technical Advisory
- Facilitate collaboration and information sharing between research teams
- Manage researcher queries and stakeholder communication
- Maintain the research database (projects, publications, etc.)
- Report on research outputs and project progress
- Participate in research and innovation working groups
- Support the Research and Innovation Manager with delegated tasks
Asset Management Internship
Minimum Requirements
- NQF 6 or above in Civil Engineering
Exposure & Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Project Manager and Road Network Manager, the intern will be exposed to:
Traffic Monitoring / Structures
- Introduction to TMH3 Traffic Monitoring Specifications
- Understanding TMH14 Traffic Monitoring Data Formats
- Assist in tender preparation
- Update the Traffic Monitoring Database
- Load Traffic Monitoring Station information
- Introduction to TMH19 Visual Assessment of Structures
- Update the Structure Database
- Allocate structure numbers
- Perform quality assurance for traffic and structure data
Road Network Management
- Introduction to TMH22 Road Asset Management Manual
- Assist with administrative tasks for ISO55001 certification
- Capture Procurement Gate project data
- Perform configuration and trail section verification
- Assist with 3D Lidar establishment
