Role purpose 
• Development of young and emerging talent within the multinational organisation

Accountabilities 
• Learn and eventually work with many facets (namely: accounts payable, Accounts receivables, Fixed Assets, financial statements preparation, internal controls, Taxation, etc.) of the financial environment, but will mainly be focusing on accounting and reporting aspects
• Aim to be highly proficient and agile in the finance domain during the internship program.
• Soft skills will be an integral part of learning and stakeholder engagement.
• Analyse and interpret the balance sheet – through balance sheet reconciliations.
• With the guidance of the Finance Business partners & statutory and tax Lead & Operations accountant, assist with AFS preparation, monthly reporting, VAT, SARS queries (Income Tax, VAT, Custom Duty), Statutory requirements (CIPC annual returns, compliance, AGM Pack, Credit assessment for Customers, annuals fixed assets controls and monthly journal processing
• Assist with the external and internal audits
• Assist finance team to partner with the business to provide accurate reporting
• Data collection, interrogating source data in SAP/Microsoft Dynamics to determine correctness of GL postings
• Live core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for colleagues and the business
• Building and maintaining strong relationship with stakeholders
• Reconciling balance sheet ledgers to sub-ledgers on AP/AR/GL and clearing accounts
• Ensure the Basic controls are performed on a timely manner
• Manage timely feedback according to Syngenta standard on finance personel, 3rd party provider and European Finance Operation Team
• Responsible for adhoc tasks related to finance not limited to those already mentioned above
Qualifications & knowledge 
• B-Com Degree in Accounting or equivalent
• Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Dynamics advantageous
• Full MS Office profiency
• Understanding general accounting principles (IFRS, Tax & Companies Act)
• Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
• Good understanding of Companies Act
• Good understanding of business end to end processes and internal controls
• Good knowledge on tax rules
• Good understanding of a how the business operates
• Good understanding of internal control framework
• Ability to work in a fast-changing environment
