Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources invites South African unemployed graduates to apply for the Graduate Internship Programme 2026–2028.

About the DMPR Internship Programme

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) is offering a graduate internship programme for the 2026/2027 – 2027/2028 financial years.

This programme provides graduates with valuable workplace experience in various fields related to mining, petroleum, finance, law, and public administration.

Note: Successful applicants will be responsible for their own accommodation and transport during the internship period.

Finance & Economics

  • Investment Promotion
  • Fuel Pricing Mechanism
  • Office of the CFO
  • Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Management Accounting
  • Fuel Levies and Margins

Legal & Compliance

  • Petroleum Compliance and Enforcement
  • Legal Services
  • Mineral Laws Administration

Administration & Management

  • Mineral and Petroleum Titles Registration
  • Public Administration / Office Management
  • Human Resources
  • Technical Support Unit
  • Supply Chain / Contract Management

Engineering, Mining & Environment

  • Mine Economics
  • Mineral Information Management (GIS, Environmental Science)

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have a National Diploma or Degree in a relevant field
  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be unemployed and have not participated in any previous government internship programme
  • Be willing to relocate (if required) at own cost
  • Have strong academic records and relevant qualifications

Important Notes

  • Students requiring experiential training must attach a letter from their institution
  • Persons with disabilities and TVET graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified documents
